FUND RAISING RAFFLE FOR MICHAELA’S CANCER TREATMENT
R 300 (U.S $40) could win you this collectable, handmade Bowie knife titled, “The Big “C” Fighter” worth R15 000 made by Master Bladesmith and S.A Knifemaker’s Guild member, Kevin Harvey.
Michaela, the wife of our nephew Ian, has been suffering with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After a year’s treatment, it has now spread. She is 26 years old with two young sons. The radical treatment this year is expected to cost just under a million rand and their and their family’s funds have been exhausted. The only way that we, Kevin and Heather Harvey, can help is by donating this Bowie and running this raffle to raise funds. For more information on the Harvey’s please visit www.heavinforge.co.za.
We encourage everyone who reads this article to support this worthy cause by purchasing at least one ticket (multiple tickets are encouraged!) or by making a donation.

Knife description
The knife is made in the famous Bowie knife style with a blade length of 260 mm (10 ¼”). The blade is made from Kevin’s own Damascus (folded steel) in a pattern called “Random Chaos” with 320 layers. The spine at its thickest measures 5.5mm. The fittings are of 303 stainless steel that has been hand engraved, also by Kevin. There is an oval escutcheon plate of nickel silver perfectly inlayed into the handle of African Blackwood (Black Ivory). The nine stainless steel pins all protrude in a slight dome on either side of the handle giving a wonderful texture to the handle. The blade fits snuggly into a custom fitted heavy cowhide sheath featuring small inlayed studs and basket weave embossing.
